Barwon Heads and Ocean Grove have confirmed hosting arrangements for two key matches for the upcoming season, with venue changes required due to upcoming infrastructure works.
Barwon Heads will host the Round 11 match on Saturday, 13 June at Howard Harmer Oval, providing the club with the opportunity to play at home before major redevelopment works commence.
Ocean Grove will then host the Round 20 match on Saturday, 22 August at Shell Road Recreation Reserve.
Barwon Heads Football Netball Club’s facilities are scheduled to undergo significant reconstruction from mid-June 2026. As a result, the club will not have access to its rooms from that point onward, creating logistical challenges in hosting home games for the remainder of the season.
The adjusted venue arrangements ensure continuity of the competition while allowing essential facility upgrades to progress.
AFL Barwon wishes to advise that, following an agreement between the two clubs, there will be a change to the Round 1 fixture. The match between Ocean Grove and Anglesea, originally scheduled for Saturday, 4 April, will now be played on Friday, 3 April (Good Friday).
Normal start times will apply to all football and netball games.
This opening-round contest is particularly notable, with Ocean Grove A Grade Netball and Anglesea Senior Football entering the season as reigning premiers. The rescheduled Good Friday match provides a fitting start to the 2026 season, celebrating last year’s champions while commencing another exciting year of football and netball.
AFL Barwon advises all affiliated clubs and stakeholders of the confirmed date and meeting details for the upcoming AFL Barwon Annual General Meetings.
AFL Barwon has confirmed the total team points allocations and allowable player payment limits for A Grade netball across the Geelong Football Netball League (GFNL) and Bellarine Football Netball League (BFNL) for the upcoming season.
These settings form a key component of AFL Barwon’s netball framework, designed to promote competitive balance, financial sustainability and equity across both competitions.
AFL Barwon is proud to announce the players selected in the 2026 Kempe AFL Barwon Representative Teams, recognising the outstanding talent and development of young netballers across the Barwon region.
Selection in an AFL Barwon representative program is a significant achievement and reflects consistent performance, dedication to training, and a strong commitment to personal and team development. We congratulate all players, their families, coaches and clubs on this outstanding accomplishment.
