Qualifying Final - St Joseph's vs South Barwon

It’s one of the most highly anticipated clashes of the finals, with St Joseph’s taking on South Barwon in the qualifying final on Saturday.

These two sides have met twice this season and the ledger is perfectly balanced at one win apiece.

Setting the stage for a high-stakes showdown to decide who gets the opportunity to play the reigning premier next week.

St Joseph’s are eyeing their first premiership since 2008 after their heartbreaking Grand Final defeat last year.

The Swans are looking to make their first Grand Final appearance since 2016.

A win for either side would be monumental ahead of an exciting September campaign.

The two sides split their matchups during the home-and-away season, with Geelong West Giants winning the most previous outing in Round 17.

With their recent form, the Giants come in with confidence, having one five out of their last six games.

St Mary’s have lost their last three games; they’ll be desperate to keep their season alive and respond after a rough few weeks.

Finals can create plenty of opportunities and it may come down to which side takes theirs on the day.

St Mary’s last Grand Final appearance came back in 2011.

Geelong West Giants are still awaiting an elusive Grand Final appearance.
