Newtown & Chilwell Vs South Barwon – A Grade Semi Final

Newtown & Chilwell will be going in to the 2016 GFNL Grand Final a red hot favorite after defeating South Barwon 61-46 in Saturdays Semi Final. Newtown have been undefeated all year with St Mary’s and South Barwon being the only teams to have come within 10 goals of their undefeated record.

Newtown & Chilwell’s speed, accuracy and strength in every position on the court is seamless. Sister goaling duo Kath Knott and Julia Woolley proving to be too strong in the goal ring Shooting 31/39 and 30/33, teamed with a wealth of experienced players in defence and the mid court.

Ruby Horton was another stand out goaler on court shooting 37 goals for South Barwon.

St Marys V St Josephs – A Grade Elimination Final

St Joseph’s year has come to an end after they went down to St Mary’s by 2 goals in an elimination final. Hannah Van Gemst from St Mary’s shot 30 from 31 goals in a best on court performance, while goaler turned defender Claudia Conway and co defender Kate Fowles were also named best for St Mary’s.

St Mary’s will come up against South Barwon in the preliminary final this Saturday September 10. St Mary’s beat South Barwon 53-52 throughout the season but lost the qualifying final going down 56-42.
