Geelong Amateur has claimed its third BFL Senior Premiership is as many years beating Modewarre by 47 points on Saturday.
In a tight first quarter, straight kicking was the difference with Geelong Amateurs 3 straight to Modewarre’s 5 behinds. The inaccuracy of Modewarre set the tone for the remainder of the first half, having more scoring shots than the reigning premiers.
Modewarre worked hard to get back into the game but couldn’t sustain the pressure in the last quarter with Geelong Amateurs running away with the game.
Geelong Amateurs, Bradley King was judged the best player on the ground. Veteran forward Damian Zaparenkov kicked four goals, with power forward Mitch Day and Peter Street ending with three for the premiers. Chris Mamalis kicked four goals for Modewarre with 4 time Les Ash medallist Josh Finch named Modewarre’s best player.
Earlier in the day, Torquay claimed the Buckley’s Bellarine Reserves Premiership with a 25 point win over Drysdale. Curtis Dawson and Darcy Thornton both kicked four goals for Torquay while Jeremy Grossman was judged the best player on the ground medal.
